‘American Horror Story’ season eight: Ryan Murphy reveals which major stars are returning
The show's creator has also addressed speculation around the new season's title.
It may six months away, but details about American Horror Story’s upcoming eighth season are slowly beginning to emerge.
While the theme of the horror anthology show’s latest next incarnation has yet to be revealed, we officially know which major stars of the series are returning this time around.
According to creator Ryan Murphy, the legendary Kathy Bates will be returning to the show for the first time since 2016’s Roanoke following the cancellation of her Netflix comedy series Disjointed.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Murphy said: “Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do.”
He added: “So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”
Murphy, who previously hinted that the new series may be set in the future, also responded to speculation that the upcoming season is called American Horror Story: Radioactive after Twentieth Century Fox, which produces and distributes the show, trademarked the title.
He said: “That’s based on a fact that we’ve cleared a lot of titles for that show. It’s an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny.”
Fans of the American Horror Story were left worried about this show’s future earlier this year after it was announced that Ryan Murphy signed an exclusive five-year deal with Netflix to produce new shows.
However, US network FX, which airs the show, insisted that it will continue to air and produce American Horror Story for the forseeable future.
