‘American Horror Story: 1984’: Emma Roberts takes centre stage in first official trailer

The slasher-inspired ninth season of 'AHS' looks set to slay.

By Will Stroude

The first official trailer for American Horror Story: 1984 is here, and it looks like season nine is set to be every bit the schlocky camp-fest we’ve come to know and love from the horror anthology series.

The minute and a half teaser is heavy on hair ’80s nostalgia as our cast of young characters led by dance instructor Xavier (Cody Fern) travel to the infamous Camp Redwood for a summer of sun, sex, and, er, brutal slayings.

After reprising her iconic role as witch b*tch Madison Montgomery for last year’s Apocalypse, show stalwart Emma Roberts looks set to take centre stage as the bookish Brooke during the series, which will be the first not to feature her former real-life fiancé, Evan Peters.

Other returning AHS cast members include Sarah Paulson (in a reduced role this year), Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch, while series newcomers include Olympian Gus Kenworthy, Pose star Angelica Ross, and Glee’s Matthew Morrison.

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres on 18 September on FX in the US and on 19 September on Fox in the UK.
