Adele’s ‘Spice Up Your Life’ gets thumbs up from the Spice Girls

By Fabio Crispim

Adele’s been hitting the headlines a lot during her current world tour. But whether’s it’s helping a gay couple get engaged onstage or forgetting the lyrics to her own ‘Rolling In The Deep’, the 28-year-old superstar might have just done something that tops it all.

During her concert in Amsterdam this weekend, Adele gave a small spontaneous performance of the Spice Girls’ iconic hit ‘Spice Up Your Life’.

After she began chanting “Spice Girls!” the crowd joined in, forcing the ‘Someone Like You’ singer to respond: “Oh stop it, I’m not a Spice Girl!”

She quickly caved to the pressure, however, before singing the immortal line: “Colours of the world, spice up your life, every boy and girl, spice up your life, people of the world, spice up your life.”

The performance soon got the thumbs up from Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Horner, who all took to Twitter to share a fan-video of the performance.

In her tweet, Ginger Spice wrote: “Go Adele”.

Adele hasn’t been shy about her love for the Spice Girls. During James Corden’s Karaoke Carpool, Adele sang the Spice Girls’ debut track ‘Wannabe’ and in an interview with Vogue said:

“People always think I joke about this, but the Spice Girls blew up when I was seven, and seeing them coming from a humble background – there was hope in it. It was really a massive part of my life when the whole Girl Power thing happened.”

Meanwhile, Mel B has revealed that she thinks Victoria Beckham asked to have her mic switched off during performances.

And if that’s not enough, the group reportedly visited a studio together. Are they working on a new album?

We certainly hope so.
