8 fabulous Zsa Zsa Gabor quotes to help you navigate your gay life

By Josh Lee

Legendary actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor sadly passed away last night (November 18) following a heart attack.

Having lived to the grand old age of 99, the Hungarian-born star appeared in over 70 films and became well known for her rather modern views on life, money and men.

Essentially, she was Sex and the City’s Samantha Jones, before Samantha Jones was even a twinkle in her fictional father’s eye. And like that character, Zsa Zsa’s every-gal-for-herself attitude to life and love earned her legions of gay fans.

To celebrate the actress’ iconic life, here are eight of her most famous quotes that can help all gay men lead the lives we deserve.

On maintaining one’s priorities in the face of heartbreak

“I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back.”

On the practicalities of high camp

On the most enduring of truths – friendz before menz

“It’s not hard to find a new husband, but someone who is, for an example, a good bridge partner for you, comes along once in a lifetime.”

On why we’re all still single

“The minute I understand a man, he is no longer exciting and a challenge to me. And the last thing in the world I want is for a man to understand me and know what’s always going on inside my head. It takes away from all my mystery, which, as I’ve told you before, is the most important thing between a man and a woman.”
