Becky Hill has made a powerful pro-trans statement at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar.

The ‘Remember’ singer was collecting the Music Award, supported by Jaguar at the plush ceremony on Wednesday (11 October).

After being introduced by her close friend, MNEK, Becky said her mission was to “normalise queerness through my music across the world.”

“Being an ally is more than being an ally online”

She went on to lambast recent rhetoric from the Conservative Party to denigrate the trans community.

“Now, more than ever, we must protect our trans family,” she defiantly stated.

“No cis woman has ever complained about a trans woman sitting next to them in the hospital,” adding, “Trans individuals aren’t a threat to children.”

She also touched on the importance of genuine allyship, relaying how she was unfollowed online after posting a video of a young girl enjoying a drag show.

“Being an ally is more than being an ally online.”

The ‘Disconnect’ singer came to prominence on The Voice UK and has gone on to win two BRIT awards for Best Dance Act in 2022 and 2023.

She was also nominated for Song of the Year in 2022 with ‘Remember’ on which she worked with David Guetta.

She came out as queer in April 2021 writing on then-Twitter, “queer seems to be the most fitting identity for who I am.”

Becky’s debut album, Only Honest on the Weekend, came out in 2021 and her as-yet-untitled sophomore album is expected to be released in 2024.
