NSYNC’s Lance Bass has welcomed twins with his husband Michael Turchin through surrogacy.

The former boy band member, 42, announced the news on Instagram with an image of the birth certificates, which state the twins were born on Wednesday 13 October.

In the caption for the post, Bass said: “The baby dragons have arrived!!”

“How do you change a diaper??!”

Along with several red heart emojis, Bass also wrote: “I can not express how much love I feel right now. Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot.

“Now, how do you change a diaper??! Ahhhhhhhh!”

The images of the birth certificates reveal the twins are called Violet Betty and Alexander James. Adorably, the certificates feature the newborn babies’ footprints.

Violet weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces, while her brother came in at 4 pounds 14 ounces.

Friends of the couple celebrated the new arrivals, with actor Cheyenne Jackson commenting “Ugh so amazing. And what glorious names.”

Meanwhile, Chasten Buttigieg – who, along with partner Pete Buttigieg also became a parent to twins this year – added: “Congrats! It’s a trip!”

Bass and Turchin, 34, announced they were expecting twins in the most 2021 way imaginable: via TikTok.

In the clip, made out to be a horror movie trailer, the pair are haunted by children’s laughter for something called ‘Two Buns in the Oven’.

Earlier this year, Bass spoke to People magazine saying the parenthood journey had been tough on him and Turchin, with this being the couple’s ninth attempt at IVF, and one surrogate having a miscarriage.

He added: “There are not many great examples of gay couples having families in the public eye. We knew that we wanted to be very open and transparent with our experience because we wanted gay couples to be able to relate to us and say, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re going through that too.’ Or like, ‘Oh, now that’s, hopefully, what we can do.’ And give them a kind of a blueprint of how to do it. If you want to start that family, start that family. It’s going to be incredible.”
