Riverdale star KJ Apa has been announced as the new face of Lacoste underwear.

The New Zealand actor, 24, left fans agog on Monday (10 January) with a series of stunning campaign images that see the star sporting both black and white pairs of the iconic French brand’s underwear.

Apa, who has starred as Archie Andrews on The CW teen drama Riverdale since 2017, has struck a two-year deal with Lacoste which will see him mainly front the brand’s underwear range.

“I’ve always loved the versatility of Lacoste, which is the perfect combination of fashion and sport,” the actor said in a statement.

Last week, Apa teased the launch of the campaign by sharing a cheeky video on Instagram that saw him answering the door in just his underwear.

Lacoste have also teased that a full campaign film is set to be released this autumn, so there’s plenty more underwear-clad Apa action to look forward to in 2022.

Apa previously demonstrated his allyship with the LGBTQ community in 2018 when he condemned “very disappointing” homophobic comments by Australian rugby star Israel Folau.

“Our role as Christians is to LOVE not Judge”, Apa commented in an Instagram story that included a screenshot of Folau remarking that God’s plan for gay people is “hell”.

“What gives you the right to condemn?” the actor continued. “Are you perfect? Sit down. [sic]”
