Heartstopper and its star, Kit Connor have picked up three nominations between them at The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics’ 14th Dorian TV Awards.

The smash-hit success LGBTQ show is up for best LGBTQ show, best TV drama, while Connor has a best TV performance nomination.

In GALECA members’ short list of the best mainstream and LGBTQ+ TV on offer, HBO’s freshman comedy Somebody Somewhere and HBO Max’s Hacks lead the pack with five nominations each.

Both shows have been nominated for honours in Best LGBTQ Show, Best TV Performance, Best Supporting TV Performance and Best TV Musical Performance categories.

Somebody Somewhere was also nominated in the Best Unsung TV show category while Hacks got a nod with a Best TV Comedy nomination.

HBO’s wildly provocative teen drama, Euphoria, follows with four nominations, including nods for star Zendaya, supporting actress Sydney Sweeney, Most Visually Striking TV Show and the Campiest TV Show honour.

The Wilde Wit Award – presented to a performer, writer or commentator whose observations both challenge and amuse – sees nominations for Jerrod Carmichael, Fire Island’s Joel Kim Booster, and Bowen Yang (the latter took home this award last year) among others.

Yang and Carmichael are also nominated for GALECA’s LGBTQIA+ TV Trailblazer Award for creating art that inspires empathy, truth and equity.

Christening GALECA’s inaugural You Deserve An Award! to be given to a uniquely talented TV icon are nominees Gillian Anderson, Christine Baranski, Lynda Carter, Kim Cattrall and Cassandra Peterson.

The Dorian Award winners will be announced on 17 August and can be streamed on GALECA’s YouTube channel.
