Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has confirmed that the group are reuniting for a fundraising event in the memory of Sarah Harding, who died of cancer last year.

Sarah passed away in September 2021 at the age of 39 following a battle with breast cancer. She revealed her diagnosis in 2020.

Nadine, 36, said on Sunday (18 April) that along with band members Cheryl, Nicola, and Kimberley she will raise money to help fund life-saving medical equipment.

"She’s very much in the forefront of our minds"

In an exclusive interview with OK! Magazine, Nadine says: "We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah. She’s very much in the forefront of our minds.

"We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated. We definitely want to do something to help others," she continued.

On the impact of Sarah's passing Nadine tells OK!: "When she became unwell, a lot of my energy became focused on her. There were suddenly so many things happening that were more important than anything else. It was a time to be around loved ones and support them. Her passing has just been so devastating."

She also says that Sarah's death "still affects us [the band] deeply, to think about everything that she went through."

The 'Insatiable' singer also has hopes the band will reunite off stage as mums. As well as mentioning a few other projects she's working on, Nadine also discusses her music career and taking a step back in 2020 after her last single, 'All That I Know'.

"As soon as I’d released my last single in 2020, the world shut down. The world went quiet – almost in reflection – so it didn’t feel appropriate to bring out anything new while people were struggling and trying to survive."

She adds of performing live again: "Being able to sing to a real audience again is brilliant – indescribable fun. It almost doesn’t feel real, getting back into it again after the shows sadly came to a halt."
