Mariah Carey’s label deny Beyoncé-style album release

Mariah Carey’s record label have denied that she is planning a Beyoncé-style surprise album release.
Def Jam have indicated that the singer’s 14th studio album will be preceded by a traditional campaign ahead of a “late May” release.
Laura Swanson, the label’s exec VP-media, said: “Mariah will announce the date and title in advance of the on-sale date.”
In her interview with Billboard, Mariah suggested that she wants fans to hear the record “as a body of work” and experience it “as if they were listening to it with me for the first time”.
She also said that the album, which appears not to titled The Art of Letting Go as first thought, takes its name from a “personal possession” she has owned for most of her life.
The singer’s new album was due to be released on May 6, but it was recently reported that the record had been delayed once again.
Carey has released three singles from the album so far, #Beautiful, The Art of Letting Go and You’re Mine (Eternal). The poor performance of the latter is thought to have been the reason for the most recent delay.
