Katy Perry: ‘Mariah Carey is fabulous for a throwback’

Katy Perry has revealed that she loves Mariah Carey’s music when she’s looking for a “throwback”.

The singer told Australian breakfast show Sunrise that she listened to Mariah when she was growing up.

She said: “She’s fabulous for a throwback. Fabulous! We love Fantasy. I mean Honey, I love Honey – I listened to all of those songs growing up.”

Mariah is currently preparing to release her fourteenth studio album The Art of Letting Go, featuring singles Beautiful and You’re Mine (Eternal).

Meanwhile, the Dark Horse singer also spoke about going to see Britney and Miley in concert this year, saying that the two stars are at different points in their careers.

Asked which show she enjoyed more, she said: “Well, if I actually give you an answer to that one, I’ll have an onslaught of people on Twitter hitting me up with what they think – but, since I stay true to myself, I think that they were two different shows.

“Britney is at a different period in her life than Miley. This is Miley’s first big tour. I think Britney is making a comeback and I thinking Miley is making her first come…for.

“Miley was amazing. She was different, which is what sets her apart.”
