Stonewall’s Equality Walk comes to Brighton
Hundreds of people are set to join together for Stonewall’s Equality Walk in Brighton on Sunday May 10.
Taking in the sights of the beautiful Brighton seafront, this 10k sponsored challenge will raise money to help bring an end to bullying and discrimination.
With a midday start and a garden party through the afternoon, the walk starts and ends at the Brighton Pavillion – and walkers can opt for a 10km course or a more reasonable 3km route. All walkers must raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship to help make a difference for LGBT equality – the fundraising target for the Equality Walk is £50,000.
‘I’m thrilled to be hosting Stonewall’s Equality Walk this year – and look forward to meeting everyone on the day. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for beautiful Brighton sunshine and help raise vital funds to improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people,” said transgender actress Bethany Black (pictured below), who’ll be there to host proceedings and encourage walkers.
Co-host, Emmerdale actress Alicya Eyo, said she’s also thrilled to be involved with the event.
“I’ve always been a big supporter of Stonewall and the important work that they do, and I’m really very proud to have become more involved with their work over the last year,” she said.
“It’s vital that we continue to support Stonewall’s work helping to improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Britain and overseas as there is still a way to go in order to challenge and erase inequalities.”
