Pride Glasgow weather forecast: Thunder and lightning likely

A day of heavy showers with a high chance of thunder, lightning and hail is expected at Pride Glasgow today (July 19).

Speaking to attitude.co.uk yesterday (July 18), Met Office spokesperson Nicky Maxey confirmed that a ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued throughout the region, and while the morning “looks showery”, the afternoon is likely to bring heavy rain with a high chance of thunderstorms.

“It might not be as wet everywhere,” Ms Maxey explained. “So while half of Glasgow could experience rain the other half could see bright sunshine. It’s difficult to say.”

The afternoon is likely to be muggy and humid, though, with temperatures reaching highs of 18C, but Ms Maxey has confirmed that any rain that does fall is likely to be “quite torrential”, bringing with it a risk of “surface water flooding” as storm drains struggle to cope with the downpours.

Pride Glasgow kicks off at 12pm today and will feature performances from X Factor stars Ruth Lorenzo, Lucy Spraggan and Amelia Lily.

Lily – who performed at Attitude’s star-studded HOT 100 party in central London earlier this week (July 16) – recently unveiled her new single California, which you can listen to here.

The event takes place at the King Street car park, King Street, and tickets cost £8. For more information visit the Pride Glasgow website.
