Homophobic Christian group infiltrates Toronto Pride march dressed as ‘gay zombies’
After Black Lives Matter protesters tried to stop the parade from going ahead unless organisers agreed to banned police from future Pride events, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took part in proceedings, another eye-catching story has emerged from last weekend’s Toronto Pride.
An anti-gay Christian group also too part in the parade, infiltrating the march and handing out offensive leaflets – all the while dressed as ‘gay zombies’.
Dressed up in green body suites with rainbow accessories, the group ‘Gay Zombies Cannabis Consumers Association’ gave out fake condoms and leaflets that had graphic images of people suffering from AIDS, genital warts, and syphilis, claiming this is what would happen if you engage in a ‘homosexual lifestyle’.
Bill Whattcott, the leader, who paid the $100 fee to register, had also infiltrated Vancouver Pride in 2014. The year before that, he was found guilty of hate speech after being found to hand out similar leaflets.
Commenting on the success of his bizarre protest, Whattcott told reporters: “Give [gay people] some whackadoodle thing that looks like a condom and they really can’t grab it fast enough. I had 3,000 out in 20 minutes”.
