Attitude Pride Award winner: Religious homophobia campaigner Matthew Naz Mahmood-Ogston

By Attitude Magazine

Founder of the Naz and Matt Foundation, Matthew Naz Mahood-Ogston has turned personal tragedy into a passionate quest to combat homophobia within religious communities. We’re thrilled to present him with an inaugural Attitude Pride Award at tonight’s ceremony, presented in association with Delta Air Lines. Hear Matthew’s story in his own words below:

Matthew Naz Mahmood-Ogston was deeply in love with his fiancé Nazim Mahmood when tragedy struck as a result of religious pressure from Nazim’s family. Now, Matt has set up the Naz and Matt Foundation to prevent this happening again. The mission of the Foundation is never to let religion – any religion – come between a parent and a child. They’re a young charity, growing slowly, but with every new fundraising and campaigning activity, Matthew pays tribute to his beloved late partner.
