Upsetting video of man coming out to his family goes viral

An upsetting video of a man telling his family he is gay has gone viral.
Daniel Pierce, a 20-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, was rejected by his family when he came out earlier this week, a traumatic experience which he captured on camera.
The video, which has now been viewed almost two million times on YouTube, was recorded secretly by Pierce on Wednesday (August 27) and shows his family insisting that the 20-year-old stops “choosing” to be gay.
“I believe in the word of God, and God creates nobody that way,” says an unidentified member of Pierce’s family. “It’s a path that you have chosen to choose. You go by all the scientific stuff you want to. I’m going by the word of God.”
The video ends with the family throwing Pierce out of their home, calling him a “disgrace”. A GoFundMe campaign has since been set up to raise money to cover his living expenses – and has already raised almost $50,000 (£30,000).
Shortly after uploading the video to YouTube, Pierce posted a status update on Facebook describing his “shock and disbelief” at his family’s reaction to his sexuality. See it below.
