Tinder to ban under-18s from using app

When it comes to finding love online, Tinder is one of the most-used apps out there.

But the app, which is recently announced it is looking into how it can be more transgender-friendly, is set to block people under the age of 18 from using it, saying it’s “the right thing to do”.

Since its launch back in 2012, Tinder has allowed users between the age of 13-17 match with other users in the same age bracket.

Now, however, the app will be off-limits to adolescents completely.

In a statement Rosette Pambakian, the VP of Tinder’s communications, said: “On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences.”

“Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under-18 users. We’ve been reviewing this policy since early this year and believe it’s the right thing to do.”

Tinder believes they will be losing just 3% of their global users by banning under-18’s.
