Supergirl’s Jeremy Jordan’s cousin released from ‘gay cure’ centre
Yesterday we reported that Supergirl actor Jeremy Jordan had gone public with a campaign to help his 17-year-old cousin Sarah get out of a ‘pray away the gay’ Christian camp.
Reports stated that Sarah’s parents sent the high school student to the camp after she took her girlfriend to prom. During her stay, which could last up to a year, she has no communication with the outside world, is forced to work and attend Bible-based therapy sessions to ‘cure’ her of her homosexuality.
Under Texan law and by the will of her parents, Sarah can be kept in the facility until she turns 18 next year.
The 31-year-old Supergirl star took to Twitter to share a GoFundMe page in order to help fight the legal battle to get her released from the camp.
Now however, the New Civil Rights Movement has reported that Sarah has been released from ‘Heartlight Ministries Boarding School’.
The boarding school has released a statement explaining that she “is no longer at Heartlight” and denied any allegations that the organisation practices ‘ex-gay’ therapy.
They said: “Some of you may have seen recent stories about Heartlight Ministries in the media. It is disheartening to see that this young woman has had elements of her story made widely public without her consent. The assertion that this teen was held at Heartlight Ministries against her will, or that Heartlight provides any ‘treatment’ services for sexual identity, are categorically untrue.”
“Heartlight is a residential counselling program for teenagers who struggle with a wide range of behavioral and emotional issues. While this young woman is no longer at Heartlight, should she ever personally choose to return, we would welcome her with open arms.”
While Sarah has been released, her cousin Jeremy has yet to acknowledge it on social media.
