The series was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and is made for BBC Cymru Wales by Hartswood Films.

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, added: “Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this hit series of Sherlock. This latest accolade is the icing on the cake and only further demonstrates the audiences huge appetite and appreciation for original British drama on BBC One.”
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman star in the hit series as Sherlock and John Watson.
A fourth and fifth series are currently in the planning stages, according to Steven Moffat.
