New Dolce and Gabbana range celebrates gay families

By Ben Kelly

Dolce and Gabbana have unveiled a new range of t-shirts and bags which celebrate gay, and diverse families.

It appears the fashion designers are somewhat making amends, following comments they made in 2015 about same-sex parents.

In a 2015 interview with Italian magazine Panorama, Dolce and Gabbana remarked, “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one.” They also criticised IVF and surrogacy, saying, “No chemical offspring and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.

This led to an attempted boycott of Dolce and Gabbana, headed by Sir Elton John. The pair – who themselves were in a same-sex relationship themselves for many years – eventually apologised.

Now, using the hashtag #dgfamily, they have showed off a new range of items on their Instagram, which appear to show their support for gay families.

Whether or not the range will be affordable for the average gay family is another story: one t-shirt is currently pricing at 225 Euro on the D&G website.
