Miley Cyrus has launched a new Instagram campaign to improve transgender visibility.
As part of her LGBT advocacy group The Happy Hippie Foundation, the 22-year-old pop star launched the #InstaPride photo series yesterday (June 15), “to share the stories of transgender and gender expansive people from around the country.”

In an Instagram post to her 22 million followers, Cyrus wrote: “I’m launching #InstaPridetoday, in partnership with @Instagram, to share stories of transgender and gender expansive people from around the country.
“Over the next 2 weeks, you’ll meet them and the people in their lives who support them, as we highlight their stories of resilience.”

The outspoken LGBT rights advocate – who recently spoke out about her experiences of coming out to her mother aged 14 – added that she doesn’t like applying gender labels to herself.
“I’m just equal. I’m just even,” she told Time. “It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel.
“People try to make everyone something,” she explained. “You can just be whatever you want to be.”
