The man who attacked a couple near a gay bar in Brooklyn has handed himself in.

Brandon McNamara, 25, surrendered himself to the police after a two day search after surveillance cameras captured him attacking the gay couple, who both were taken to hospital following the attack.

McNamara punched one of the men in the face and threw second man against a tree. Both victims were taken to hospital after falling unconscious.

One of the men was treated for a fractured shoulder and the other for a fractured finger. Luckily both men are expected to recover from the incident.

Police chief Dermot Shea wrote in a statement on Twitter: “In partnership with the community, an arrest has been made in the 9-23-18 Hate Crime assault in Brooklyn in which a gay couple was brutally attacked.”

McNamara was suspended from his job pending further investigation but has no criminal record to date.
