Katy Perry is first person to reach 50m Twitter followers

Katy Perry has become the first person to reach 50 million followers on Twitter.
The Dark Horse singer continues to be the most-followed user on the social networking site, and is less than a million ahead of Justin Bieber.
Katy’s current total is 50,165,596, with Bieber on 49.34 million followers, and US President Barack Obama in third with 41.27 million followers.
Lady Gaga and YouTube complete the top five, with 41m and 39m followers respectively.
After learning that she had passed the milestone over the weekend, Katy tweeted fans: “Oh yeah AND we grew to 50 million Katycats! Eh, regular day at the office.”
