Homophobic vandals attempt to spell the word ‘f*ggot’, fail epically

By Will Stroude

A gay couple in Utah woke up to find their car vandalised with homophobic slurs on November 11 – although the spelling is so bad that you’d be forgiven for missing the message.

Husbands Nik and Aaron McFarland’s car was left with three slurs on it: ‘Homo die’, ‘fag’, and ‘faget’ which we can only assume means ‘faggot’.

“My husband came and woke me up and told me our car had been vandalised,” Aaron told the Standard Examiner.

“I didn’t really understand exactly what happened until I saw the car.”

While Aaron said he hoped that the graffiti wasn’t linked to the recent Election result, he admitted that “it’s probably not a coincidence,” reporting that there had been “a really toxic environment lately.”

“It’s frightening that people could feel like they have some kind of license to act like this,” he added.

“I feel bad for someone who has that much hate in their heart.”

No suspect has been found so far, Ogden Police reported. But in the wake of the attack, the community has rallied around to support the couple.

“It’s really been unbelievable,” Aaron said. “The things people have done for us, it’s showed us that the good people far outweigh the bad ones. [Supporters have] been people from around the Ogden area, around the state, around the country — we even had someone from Australia reach out to us. And it’s been people from both sides of the political aisle, which I think is important to note.”
