‘Hamilton’ star insists he has ‘nothing to apologise for’ following Mike Pence speech

One of the stars of Broadway musical Hamilton has insisted he has “nothing to apologise for” after directing a public plea for equality and acceptance at US Vice President-elect Mike Pence during a performance last week.
Brandon Victor Dixon directed a stirring message on behalf of the cast to Donald Trump’s running mate as the politician sat in the audience during Friday night’s performance of the hit musical, which tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
The speech, which drew attention to the “diverse group of men and women of different colours, creeds and orientations” on stage and urged the incoming administation to “uphold our American values, and work on behalf of all of us,” enraged President-elect Donald Trump, who later took to Twitter to demand an apology from the cast.
Appearing on CBS This Morning yesterday however, Dixon insisted that he had “nothing to apologise for”, and shut down Trump’s accusations that the cast had “harassed” the Vice President-elect.
