Rylan Clark has revealed he is officially off the market – and says his first relationship in four years is already so serious that the pair have discussed starting a family.
The This Morning and BBC Radio 2 presenter shared the news on his podcast Rylan: How To Be In Love with documentary maker Louis Theroux.
Clark told how his new boyfriend marks the first person he has felt ready to let in since his split from ex-husband Dan Neal in 2021.
“I think part of me has been scared” – Rylan Clark on remaining single for four years
“I’ve not been in a relationship for the past four years. I think part of me has been scared,” he explained. “I shouldn’t be scared of getting into a relationship even if it don’t work, because otherwise I’m never going to get into that relationship.”
The man in question is believed to be named Kennedy, a Leicestershire-based funfair director. Clark confirmed Kennedy has already met his family – a step he has not taken with anyone else since his marriage ended.
“It’s great and I’m happy. It feels very different to anything I’ve had before, which is a good sign to me. It’s the first person I’ve met in four years that I’ve introduced to my family.”
“Yeah I want kids. He wants kids” – Clark on starting a family
Far from hiding away, Clark said he has made a conscious choice to enjoy the relationship in public rather than keeping it low profile. “I’ve been so blatant about it no one’s noticed. I thought, I’m not going to miss out on this part. I’m loving what I’ve got at the minute.”
When Theroux asked whether children were part of the couple’s plans, Clark replied without hesitation: “Yeah I want kids. He wants kids.”
“I’m loving what I’ve got at the minute and I want to keep it that way.”
The presenter later confirmed the romance on Radio 2 with co-host Lottie Uttley, joking the revelation should put an end to speculation about him and Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour co-star Rob Rinder.
“It was like my body had shut down” – Clark on his divorce from Dan Neal
Clark married Neal in 2015, but their separation six years later led to a personal crisis that saw him take time away from work after suffering heart failure.
Speaking to an audience at London Royal Festival Hall, he said at the time: “It was like my body had shut down. Twice last year I ended up back in an ambulance because my heart had failed and it was really strange because I just remember for a couple of weeks going, ‘My heart hurts’.
“My heart had to be restarted. I just remember lying in re-sus[citation], because I had these pads on with all these wires, and not understanding what it was.”
He recounted how “there were weeks that I couldn’t speak”, and that his mum had grown concerned he’d had a stroke.
