Jacob (right)
Age: 23
Occupation: Casting director
Why did you volunteer for a blind date?
LUKE: I have been single for such a long time and hate using apps so thought, ‘Why not? I’ve got nothing to lose.’
JACOB: I thought it would be a laugh, and I’m not getting any younger.
What were your first impressions of him?
LUKE: “Wow, he’s tall!”
JACOB: I liked how he dressed; he looked creative and expressive. And he had nice hair.
How was the conversation and what did you talk about?
LUKE: We spoke about what we did, hobbies, growing up, weekend plans. We covered a lot.
JACOB: We talked about life and London and dogs (obviously). He has a really interesting job and we spoke about LGBT+ social equality and representation, which I’m really interested in. And then we spoke about dogs again.
What was his best quality?
LUKE: He loved food just as much as me, so I was able to eat as much as I wanted without looking like a pig!
JACOB: His confidence: he wasn’t afraid of being himself and I think that is the best quality in a human.

Were there any deal-breakers?
LUKE: He was a little obsessed about equal rights and equal representation, which I am all for, but it was all he would go on about. I mean, you can have good political views and still be a laugh.
JACOB: His favourite city is Leicester and I think that is a place where dreams go to die.
What were you most worried he would notice about you?
LUKE: I hate my teeth, so probably that. Although he actually said I had good teeth, which was nice!
JACOB: That I’d had half a bottle of wine before I got there (and by half, I mean whole).
How was the food?
LUKE: The food was amazing! I had the wagyu steak. And the fried chicken to start was great!
JACOB: Amazing. I had a steak and lobster and it was one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth.
How did the night end?
LUKE: We both walked each other to the station, thanked each other for a nice evening, hugged and then went our separate ways.
JACOB: We walked to the station together and said goodbye but we didn’t exchange numbers.

Quentin and Chris dined at M Restaurant, Victoria Street, London.
What would you have changed about the night?
LUKE: Nothing! It was a pleasant evening.
JACOB: I would have liked to have been less nervous – and I would have ordered two desserts because they were great.
Snog, marry, avoid?
LUKE: This is tough, do I have to pick one? Probably avoid. Am I a terrible person? I just didn’t feel a spark.
JACOB: If I wanted to get married I’d marry someone like him. He was very nice and incredibly genuine.
Will you meet again?
LUKE: Probably not. While he was nice, he really wasn’t for me and we didn’t even exchange numbers.
JACOB: No, although I’d buy him a drink if I saw him on a night out.
