Age: 41
Occupation: Customer experience manager

Grant (right)
Age: 27
Occupation: Finance associate

What were you hoping to get out of the date?

Ricardo: To have a good time and possibly meet Mr Right. I always try not to build expectations, but, deep down, always do.

Grant: This was my first ever blind date, and also my first date in a while so I was a bit nervous. I thought it’d be great to meet someone to have a laugh and get along with.

What were your first impressions?

R: That Grant was damn tall and wearing the same outfit as me! He was extremely friendly. I felt at ease — as if I’d known him for ages.

G: He’s dark and handsome: a big plus. He was also very polite, kind and friendly.

How different was he to your usual type?

R: Grant is taller; I’m compact. Fortunately, the shape of the restaurant chair helped bring me to the same height as him!

G: My usual type is dark hair, stubble/ beard, Mediterranean, so Ricardo – dare I say it – is my type. He ticked all the boxes, a genuine guy and Portuguese. Would you have swiped left or right?

R: I’m sure Grant has lots of information on his profile that would intrigue me… right.

G: Right, because he has a cute smile.

What did you talk about?

R: Everything. It was a relaxed and fluid conversation.

G: The conversation flowed well, we talked the whole time.

What was the most interesting thing about him?

R: Grant was curious to learn more about me.

G: I liked that Ricardo grew up in Portugal and travels for his job. It’s always interesting learning about another person’s culture.

What was his best quality?

R: His honesty.

G: That he is able to hold a conversation very easily.

What did you make of his dress sense?

R: I’m not a fashion geek, but he looked handsome. Just to note again that I was wearing the same thing.

G: We basically wore the same outfit, so that is a big tick.

Were there any deal-breakers?

R: Not really.

G: Not so far.

What do you think he thought of you?

R: He liked me.

G: I thought that my height might put him off. I’m 6ft 5in which I sometimes feel anxious about.

What were you most worried he would notice about you?

R: Not much.

G: My Essex accent – and it just gets stronger when alcoholic beverages are consumed.

Charlie and Dean dined at M Restaurant, Victoria Street, London

How was the food?

R: Delicious and carefully presented. Good wine cellar, too.

G: I have been to their sister restaurant on Threadneedle Street, so I knew the food and drink would be amazing. It was made better by the company.

Any awkward moments?

R: He did go to the toilet twice, but I guess I’m some kind of camel!

G: No.

How did the night end?

R: Sharing a dessert, then exchanging phone numbers.

G: We walked towards Victoria station and exchanged numbers. Ricardo got an Uber, while I jumped on the Tube.

Snog, marry, avoid?

R: None. But I do want to keep Grant as my friend.

G: Definitely not avoid.

Will you meet again?

R: I hope so!

G: We spoke about going to a museum we are both interested in.

Rate the date!

Ricardo: 7/10
