Gigi Goode and Dan Stevens lead the Attitude Summer issue

It's time to be louder and prouder than ever with the Pride & Prejudice issue.

By Will Stroude

Pride season 2020 may be looking a little different to how we all pictured it six months ago, but that won’t stop us celebrating love and equality louder than ever before in the Attitude Summer issue, out now to download and to order globally.

Ahead of her appearance at Henry Holland’s Drag Brunch – part of Attitude Pride at Home – on our YouTube channel this Sunday (12 June), Drag Race season 12 runner-up Gigi Goode opens up about her gender-fluidity and why she won’t be known as just a fashion queen.

Dan Stevens, the anti-hero of Netflix’s eagerly-anticipated comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, also speaks exclusively to Attitude about about the world’s best-loved music event and his Russian character’s big secret…

Meanwhile, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to colour every aspect of daily life, including this summer’s planned Pride events, we celebrate the LGBTQ NHS Heroes working tirelessly on the NHS frontline during this unprecedented crisis.

As we meet staff from St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, infection and prevention control nurse Danel Meno Garcia appears on a special edition cover as a tribute to all those NHS workers keeping us safe and well.

You might recognise our fourth cover from BBC Three’s Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, which earlier this month saw contestants take part in a special Attitude challenge with a coveted cover spot up for grabs.

After a tense episode guest-judged by make-up artist to the stars Adrew Gallimore, it was the work of James Mac Inerney which made the cover of our Summer issue, and you can see all the contestants’ work in our special Glow Up fashion editorial inside.

Elsewhere in the Attitude Summer issue, we report from the ground of Black Lives Matter protests in London, where empowering displays of solidarity between queer and Black communities have reminded us all of the importance of intersectionality in the battle for equality.

As America has been set alight with riots after the shocking death of George Floyd by police hands, Black Lives Matter’s queer co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, also shares some valuable life lessons.

Poet Jericho Brown has made history as the first gay black man to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his latest collection, The Tradition. The Louisiana-born writer tells Attitude how he wants to use his new-found profile to reframe our broken world.

Paging Cam-er-ooon! Drag Race’s first ever drag superstar and All Stars 3’s Bebe Zahara Benet is this month’s Big In A Wig. Rakatatiti tata!

50 years after the first Pride, we look back on the brave LGBTQ activists who made up the Gay Liberation Front, and meet some of the surviving members who aren’t done changing the world well into their seventies.

As intersex issues continue to be better explored and understood, campaigner Pidgeon Pagonis explains why forcing medical procedures on intersex youngsters to ‘correct’ their gender is akin to gay ‘conversion’ therapy and must be banned.

Over the last 12 months, Poland’s ‘LGBT-free zones’ have served as a grim reminder that, even in Europe, the fight for human rights is far from over. This month, we meet three Polish LGBTQ people who tell us what it’s like to live inside them.

Plus, we head Turkey to find out more avout the secretive LGBTQ language of ‘Lubunca’, and why, after a century of keeping vulnerable queer communities safe, the language has been dragged out of anonymity, potentially putting people at risk.

That’s alongside all your usual news, reviews and opinion, of course…
