Sabrina Carpenter’s charitable foundation, The Carpenter Fund, has raised over $1m for charities close to the star’s heart: mental health, LGBTQ+ rights, and animal welfare.
Working with non-profit PLUS1, the ‘Espresso’ singer has earned recognition as the leader of the fastest-growing artist-led effort in the organisation’s history.
“Sabrina is setting a new standard” – Marika Anthony-Shaw
PLUS1 CEO and founder Marika Anthony-Shaw said in a statement: “Sabrina’s approach to philanthropy shows what’s possible when an artist truly commits to embedding impact across their work.”
“Sabrina is setting a new standard, one where social impact becomes woven into an artist’s career to create meaningful, lasting change.”
The announcement comes just months after Carpenter introduced her fund in collaboration with the non-profit, a partnership that has been integrated throughout her ‘Short n’ Sweet Tour’. The fund took $1 from every each ticket sold on her tour and has now reached and surpassed the $1m mark in less than a year.
A major focus of the fund is supporting LGBTQ+ rights, with the fund backing organisations that provide direct support to LGBTQ+ individuals, including the UK-based Rainbow Railroad, which helps LGBTQ+ people escape life-threatening discrimination around the world.
It also contributes to the LGBTQ National Help Center, which offers crisis intervention and support resources to queer communities.
The two-time Grammy nominee has also supported mental health programs such as UK-based PAPYRUS which offers 24-hour crisis support services and animal rescue and adoption efforts through Best Friends Animal Society.
Since its launch in 2014, PLUS1 has collaborated with a range of artists including Chappell Roan, Selena Gomez and St. Vincent.
