Hailey Bieber shuts down transphobic trolls while addressing gender rumours: ‘As if being trans is a dis’

Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber has slammed transphobes and online trolls questioning her gender, saying that looking trans should not be used as an insult.
The skincare brand owner appeared on the In Your Dreams podcast with Overcompensating actor Owen Thiele, where the pair sat next to each other in a bed on the set.
When she realised that her jeans were protruding, the podcast host joked, “Hailey, you’re hard,” before Bieber replied, “The rumours are true.”

The 28-year-old explained that she regularly encounters trolling and online comments from people who suggest she is transgender.
“When people are trying to be mean, they’re like, ‘She looks trans.’ And I’m like, ‘Why do you think that’s a diss?'” she said.
She continued: “As if being trans is a diss. Some of the most beautiful women in the world and men in the world are trans. So I just don’t take that offensively at all.”

Though putting the allegations to bed, users continued to comment on the star’s appearance. “I’m not gonna lie, she does look trans, and I’m not saying it as an insult,” one user wrote on X.
Another viewer commented, “She’s trying very hard to convince herself and us that that’s true. We’re not buying it.”
The mother-of-one, who married Justin Bieber in 2018, has also been hailed for her sensitive response to the trolls’ remarks.

In addition, Bieber has shown support for the LGBTQ+ community in the past, including signing an open letter with GLAAD in 2023 urging tech companies to combat hate and harassment against the community.

Lady Gaga is another example of a female celebrity who has been accused of having a penis, having gone viral when she addressed the rumours in interviews.
Notably, during a 2011 interview with Anderson Cooper, when asked about her genitalia , she replied: “Maybe I do. Would it be so terrible?” She added, “Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis? My fans don’t care, and neither do I.”
