Whoopi Goldberg says ‘Sister Act 3’ will take a ‘different direction’
The actress hinted she would make an appearance in the upcoming Disney movie

Whoopi Goldberg has revealed Sister Act 3 will take a “different direction” to the previous movies.
The actress starred as the Nevada lounge sister Deloris Van Cartier who was forced to go into witness protection at a convent after her mob boss boyfriend put a price on her head.
At the time, the film was a surprise box office success grossing $231 million worldwide and spawned a 1993 sequel featuring Lauryn Hill called Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. The popularity of the franchise also spawned a West End and Broadway smash hit musical.
The films starred Dame Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkenna as the singing nuns.
Rumours of a third instalment have been circulating for a while with Goldberg saying last year she’d love to return for a new movie but believed Disney would be more inclined to reboot rather than carry of the movies.
And now, speaking to Good Morning Britian, Goldberg revealed that the cast have been begging Disney for a third movie and they have decided it would be a “brand new rendition” rather than carrying on the franchise.
She said: “We’ve been all over Disney begging. They’ve decided that they’re going to go in a different direction with Sister Act.
“So it won’t be Sister Act 3 it will be a brand new rendition of Sister Act, and I guess I’ll walk through a scene and that’s how they’ll say I was part of it.”
We hope Disney listen to the original cast – as well as the fans out there – and get Goldberg, Najimy, Makkenna and Smith all back into their habits.
