Watch: Ellen says Caitlyn Jenner ‘still has a judgement’ about gay marriage

After Caitlyn Jenner’s illuminating conversation with Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime show last week (September 5), DeGeneres has said that the former Olympian “still has a judgement” about gay marriage.
Appearing on Howard Stern’s radio show yesterday (September 8), the chat show host also said that Jenner’s failure to dance with her on the show – as guests often do – may have been because she’s uncomfortable with that fact the host is a lesbian.
During her first ever chat shwo appearance on Ellen last week, Jenner explained that though orginally she “was not for [gay marriage]”, her views have since changed.
“I think, like a lot of people on this issue, I have really changed my thinking here to, ‘I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness.’ That’s not my job, okay?” she said. “If that word ‘marriage’ is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.”
Ellen has since given her own thoughts on the encounter, expressing concern Jenner’s “confusing” stance on LGBT issues.
“She really still has a judgement about gay marriage,” DeGeneres told Stern during the broadcasts. “And I said, ‘You’re wanting people to understand and accept you – this is like, really confusing to people. And you still have a judgement about gay people and marriage.
“She goes, ‘Well if the word marriage is that important,’ and I was like, ‘It is, because that’s the word. We want the same thing.”
When Stern asked if Jenner danced with Ellen on the show, as guests often do, the comedian replied: “No she didn’t dance. I don’t think she’s a dancer. And maybe she didn’t want to dance with me because I’m a lesbian.”
She added: “I’m grateful she was on the show. I don’t really know her, and I’m trying to understand it because I don’t fully understand it either. But I also want everyone to be happy… I want her to be happy, which is what I want for her, [but] for me.”
