Troye Sivan inspires transgender fan to come out to his dad – and the result is amazing
Troye Sivan’s Twitter went into meltdown last week when the 20-year-old Aussie pop star shared a series of snapshots from a young transgender fan which showed him coming out to his father.
The fan, named Evan shared the snapshots of the touching exchange last Wednesday (June 1) on Twitter, and thanked his pop icon for giving him the courage be honest about who he was.
“I just came out to my dad and I think I have the best dad in the world? Thank you Troye Sivan this is because of you,” he wrote.

In the messages to his father, Evan writes: “I don’t really known how to say this and I don’t want to beat around the bush, please don’t tell my mum anything please dad, but I’ve known for a while that I’m transgender.”
He adds: “I’m a boy and I don’t know how you’ll take it but you’re my best friend and I felt it was right to tell you who I am and yeah, I’m a boy.”
Evans father replies by saying: “If you don’t want me to, I won’t.”
“You’ve got my whole support, it’s my job as a dad to love you, and that’s what I’ll do. I know your mum is against all of this but if one day you decide to tell her (which you don’t have to), and she blows up as per usual, give me a call and I’ll settle it.”
Evan responds by saying he’s “crying so much”, but doesn’t know what he’d do without his father.
“No don’t cry!” his father replies. “Happy times. I’m assuming you’d like to use a different name?”
Evan confirms: “Yes, Evan. My name is Evan so please use that one even though no one else in the family does.”
Being the supportive father that he is, his dad replies: “Gotcha. Evan. Changed it in contacts to citizen Evan. Don’t tell Nick, but you’re the better son anyway.”
To which his relieved son says: “I love love you (Don’t tell mum, but you’re the better parents anyway).”
Things only got better for Evan when Troye himself liked and retweeted the moving story on Twttier. The young fan, it seems, was at a loss for words…
