RuPaul’s Drag Race UK stars The Vivienne and Tia Kofi are putting the camp and the Christmas into the phrase ‘camp as Christmas’ after teaming up on a cover of festive classic ‘Jingle Bell Rock’.

The drag superstars, who have both carved out music careers following their runs in the workroom, have joined forces to record a new version of Bobby Helms’ beloved 1957 track, which the pair released on Friday morning (19 November).

‘Jingle Bell Rock’ has been covered by a pantheon of pop greats including Hilary Duff, Cascada and the cast of Mean Girls over the years, and The Viv and Tia deliver another memorable entry into the Christmas canon with a biting and bubbly spin that includes plenty of shady seasonal ad-libs.

Yes, The Viv declaring over the sound of sleigh-bells “come on Tia, get yer sack out girl!” is the kind of Yuletide joy we’re here for.

‘Jingle Bell Rock’ isn’t the first time Tia Kofi and The Vivienne have collaborated musically: the pair were among the first performers in the UK country to return to the stage following lockdown earlier this year with their show Drag Queens of Pop, alongside Drag Race UK sister Veronica Green.

The trio were notably caught up in a hoax bomb scare while rehearsing for the show at iconic London LGBTQ venue G-A-Y Heaven. Speaking to Attitude following the “scary” incident, The Vivienne spoke of the girls’ close friendship, saying: “We’ve always got each other’s backs, having lived the shared experience of Drag Race.”
