Taylor Swift and James Corden have been cast in a movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sir Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson have also agreed to appear in the film.

Reports suggest that Hudson will play Grizabella, a former “glamour cat”, while McKellen will play Old Deuteronomy. Meanwhile, it’s speculated that Swift will play Bombalurina and that Corden with play either Bustopher Jones or the show’s villain Rum Tum Tugger.

The show follows a tribe of cats called the Jellicles over the course of one night as they decide which member of their group will ascend to the ‘Heaviside Layer’ and come back to a new life.

The show, which is loosely based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, has been translated into more than 20 languages and is the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history and the sixth longest on the West End.

Tom Hooper, who directed Les Miserables and The King’s Speech, will direct the film while Lee Hall, who wrote the 2000 film Billy Elliot, will adapt the musical.

Filming is set to begin later this year, though a release date has yet to be announced.
