By Josh Haggis

E4 have announced that they have snapped up the rights to air Empire in the UK.
The music-themed FOX show, which became a massive breakout hit when it debuted on US TV back in January, follows the story of former drug dealer Lucious Lyons (Terrance Howard), who with the help of his wife, becomes the owner of a multi-million dollar record label.
One of the show’s most talked about storylines sees Lucious struggling to come to terms with his son Jamal’s – played by openly gay actor Jussie Smollet – romantic relationship with another man.
The drama has also featured guest appearances from the likes of UK popstar Rita Ora and legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell.
“Empire has been a record-breaking hit in the US. It’s grown and grown as audiences have fallen in love with its unforgettable characters and soundtrack. I’m delighted it’s coming to E4,” said Channel 4’s chief creative officer Jay Hunt.
Empire will debut on E4 this Spring.
