Sarah Paulson will not be starring in American Horror Story: 1984.

The ninth season of Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology season is set to air this September and Murphy has only released a teaser trailer and nothing has been given away as of yet.

So far, we know that Emma Roberts is set to be in the new series with Olympian Gus Kenworthy playing her on-screen boyfriend.

However, long-time star of the Emmy Award-winning series Evan Peters confirmed he wouldn’t be in the ninth season – something we are devastated to hear.

And now, Variety report Sarah Paulson will also not be in the new series despite starring in all eight so far.

Although the publication says she may make a cameo appearance in the series, it’s not known entirely why she won’t be a major character.

Paulson – who has been nominated for five Emmy Awards for her performances so far – recently said she has no information about the ninth season and it appears she won’t be in it this year.
