Sam Smith has said that he has “mastered” his sexuality.

In an interview with The Observer, the ‘Stay With Me’ star revealed that he has currently establishing a charity that will help people who are “struggling  to come out” around the world.

“I may not be comfortable with my weight, or with the way I look,” he said. “But I’m really comfortable with my sexuality. That’s one thing I have mastered.”

Smith was speaking in response to criticism he received last year after he said that he did not want his sexuality “to be a talking point”.

On his charity plans, the 22-year-old explained that it would involve “money going to gay guys who are struggling to come out in different countries… I’m very aware that we are not where we should be, so I’m trying to play my part. But in a certain way, in my way.”

Addressing his rise to fame, the star admitted that becoming famous was not “necessarily a nice thing”.
