With her campy humour, huge heart and defiant political streak, Nina West had already won over legions of Drag Race fans before she was controversially booted off the show in sixth place earlier this month.

Since departing the workroom, however, Ms. West has continued to prove herself to be the true winner of season 11, as exemplified by her adorably heartwarming new song ‘Drag Is Magic’.

While most former Drag Race queens might use their newfound fame to drop a fashion-heavy club track, Nina has come up with something far more original: a sing-a-long ditty designed to encourage youngsters to love drag, dress up, and be themselves.

The result, as you’ll see in the accompanying video – in which Nina channels her inner Mrs Doubtfire – is almost too charming to bear.

‘Drag Is Magic’ is taken from Nina’s new children’s EP of the same name, and the 39-year-old drag queen – real name Andrew Levitt – says the song is “an opportunity for children to get creative and think outside the boxes us silly adults have crafted for them.”

“Children are inundated with implicit imagery from media about what is ‘boy’ and what is ‘girl,’ she told the Huffington Post.

“And I believe that almost all kids are really less concerned about playing with a toy that’s supposedly aligned to their gender, and more concerned with playing with toys that speak to them.”
