MNEK to be honoured with ASCAP Vanguard Award

By Will Stroude

MNEK will receive this year’s Vanguard Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Billboard reports.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter and producer, who was named Breakout Artist of the Year at last month’s Attitude Awards was credited as a “luminary songwriter and producer who, in addition to his own artist career, has been involved with 13 U.K. top 20 singles,” in a statement from ASCAP.

Noting his work writing for Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Beyoncé, ASCAP president Paul Williams called the out and proud young star “an unmistakable force in music.” He will receive the honour this Thursday (November 10) in London.

“I am so grateful to have won this award,” said MNEK in a statement, adding that music and songwriting is his “first love and passion”.

“To be recognized in this extraordinary way by my peers, friends and colleagues is simply incredible,” he continued.

“I am honored and humbled by this wonderful accolade – It’s a really dope feeling!”
