Bette Midler has apologised for comments she made this week about US popstar Ariana Grande.

In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this week (November 24), Midler suggested that Grande “doesn’t have to make a whore of herself to get ahead,” arguing that the Break Free singer looks odd “slithering on a couch” with her “silly high voice.”

Grande – who has previously named Midler as one of her biggest inspirations – responded to the criticism on Twitter the next day, explaining that she thought the legendary entertainment icon “stood for women being able to do what they want.”

Now, Midler has now seemingly tried to make peace with the starlet, telling Grande on Twitter that she “has a beautiful voice on or off a couch.”

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande unveiled her new Christmas track Santa Tell Me this week – listen to it here.
