Martha Stewart has criticised Gwyneth Paltrow for launching her lifestyle publication Goop.

The businesswoman and writer said that the actress “needs to be quiet” and stick to acting.

Speaking to Net-a-Porter’s Porter magazine, Stewart said of Paltrow: “She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

She had similar criticism for Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, who recently launched her own lifestyle website, Preserve. She said the 27-year-old isn’t “credible”, but did credit her with being enthusiastic.

Meanwhile, Stewart also voiced her disapproval over the casting of Taylor Schilling as the lead actress in prison comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black.

“They could have done that so much better. That girl is not good enough, the lead actress. I met the real Piper [Kerman]. She was in prison either the same time or after me, and I talked to her about it,” she said.

Stewart was sent to jail for five months in 2004 for obstructing justice, during an investigation over insider trading.
