Married gay couple audition for The X Factor tonight

By Shaun Kitchener

Couples auditioning for The X Factor don’t often have the best outcomes, but Chris Kennedy and his husband Gabriel Cabrera will be seen having a good go in the current series’ final audition episode tonight.

Trying out as The Shures, they sing Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do for Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and a packed-out arena.

While the result of their tryout won’t be revealed until the episode airs, Cheryl tells them: “In my opinion it was so authentic that you forgot anyone else ever sang it. You didn’t notice because you didn’t take your eyes off each other but the audience really enjoyed it and so did I.”

Nick adds: “It felt like you meant it. There was sincerity in it and I think that’s why everyone here loved it. You could feel love off you.”

Rita snowballs: “You are prime example to our generation and I am so happy gay marriage was legalised in our country. Please don’t just stare at each other because we want to feel loved too.”

Simon then brings them down to Earth a tiny bit, adding: “Gabriel you are the better singer in my opinion. I get your voices do work well together but when Gabriel took the lead the song was much better.”

Whether or not their vocals were good enough to keep them in will be shown later tonight.
