Mariah Carey announces Las Vegas residency

Mariah Carey has signed a deal to star in her own Las Vegas residency.
The singer made an appearance on The Ellen Show to announce that she will perform some of her biggest Number One hits – including We Belong Together, Emotions and Fantasy – at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, replacing current performer Celine Dion who is on a break until 2016.
“This is a special event for me,” the legendary diva told Ellen. “I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this ’cause I’m going be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album #1’s, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them.”
Following the announcement, she surprised some of her fans in classic Mariah style by disguising herself as a hotel maid and sneaking up behind them to offer them tickets to the upcoming show.
The residency would see the diva follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears, who began her ‘Piece of Me’ shows at The Axis at Planet Hollywood in December 2013, and recently announced that she has extended her run through to 2017. Find out more here.
Meanwhile, rumors emerged last year that Jennifer Lopez is planning her own Las Vegas show at the same venue as Britney Spears’ residency – find out more here.
