Lindsay Lohan announces return to music with new video

The 'Mean Girls' star is back to save to pop (we hope).

By Tim Heap

Lindsay Lohan, former star of the big screen and notorious Mykonos beach club owner, has taken to social media to announce her return to music.

The 33-year-old, famous for her roles in Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap, shared a 30-second video on her social channels (she’s recently wiped her Instagram clean) on Tuesday (31 March).

The video showed a compilation of clips playing on three TV screens, with news presenters saying her name over the years amidst her career highs and lows.

The video clip ends with the middle TV shattering – we can only speculate it was caused by Lohan’s star power. Famous since she was a child, she’s never really stayed out of the limelight – or out of trouble – for too long.

Im back! 👀

The video was posted to her social media channels with the caption “I’m back!” and a link to pre-save her new single – though no further information was given regarding the nameless track.

Lohan had teased new music last year – electro-dance track Xanax – but it never had a proper release. She signed a joint deal with Casablanca and Republic Records last summer, in January 2020 promised her first album in 15 years would be released at the end of February.

The timing of her musical comeback – in the midst of a global health crisis – is perhaps questionable, but 2020 has been full of surprises so far so perhaps a LiLo banger is just what we need.

Lohan’s first album, Speak, was released in December 2004 and peaked at number four in the Billboard 200 album chart, quickly going platinum.

It spawned singles ‘Rumours’ and ‘Over’, and she followed it up with a less successful second album, A Little More Personal (Raw), a year later – before shelving her music career until now.

In the intervening years, she’s suffered a slump in her acting career, been in and out of rehab, faced a string of arrests for drug offences, driving under influence and theft, and has largely shied away from the limelight (though not always very successfully).

With no release date given for the comeback track, we suggest turning post notifications on to ensure you don’t miss whatever LiLo has in store for us all. One thing’s for sure: she’s never boring.
