Kylie Minogue is set to return to Ramsay Street for Neighbours‘ upcoming 30th anniversary, says one of her former co-stars on the Aussie soap.
Kylie appeared on Neighbours as tomboy Charlene between 1986 and 1988, before leaving to pursue her pop career. When her character married Scott Robinson, played by Jason Donovan, then her real-life boyfriend, over 20 million UK viewers tuned in to watch.
Now Anne Charleston, who co-starred opposite Minogue as Charlene’s mother, Madge Bishop, has claimed that her on-screen daughter will make an appearance on the soap next year to celebrate the show’s 30th birthday.
“The Neighbours special 30th anniversary is coming up. I will probably be involved and it will go to air in March,” she told the The Mirror. “I think Kylie is on board for the special and I imagine everyone will be in on it because it’s a big occasion.”
Charleston, now 71, then said of her time on Neighbours: “I look on those days with fondness and there is no way in the world I’d walk away from the special because it’s a celebration and I think we should all be involved in it.”
Meanwhile, Kylie has fuelled the rumours that she is planning a return to Neighbours by tweeting that she has recently bought some overalls – the outfit her character Charlene would wear to her work as mechanic. See her tweet below.
