Katy Perry ends Taylor Swift feud with apology letter and an actual olive branch

Is the bad blood finally over?

By Will Stroude

After a long four years of diss tracks, shady side swipes and cryptic tweets, it seems Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have finally decided to bury the hatchet.

The pop superstars, whose public feud is throught to have inspired hits like Swift’ ‘Bad Blood’ and Perry’s ‘Swish Swish’, appeared to put the past behind them after Katy sent Taylor an olive branch – quite literally – along with a handwritten note saying she was “deeply sorry” for the “hurt feelings” between the former friends.

Swift, who kicked off her Reputation Stadium Tour in Arizona on Tuesday (May 8), shared a video of the package on Instagram, revealing some of what Perry had written in the process.

“I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch,” Taylor, 28, says in the video, which had words ‘Thank you Katy’ superimposed over it.

“This means so much to me,” Swift adds.

The partially-readable note from Katy, 33, reads: “Hey Old Friend. I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us.

“I really want to clear the air”.

The words “deeply sorry” could also be seen on the letter.

Katy and Taylor’s public falling out dates back to 2014, when Swift revealed that her diss track ‘Bad Blood’ was about a fellow female pop star who had “tried to sabotage” her arena tour.

The incident led to Katy – who had hired several dancers working on Taylor’s Red Tour for her own Prismatic World Tour – labelling Swift a “Regina George in sheep’s clothing”; a reference to the bitchy Queen Bee of 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls.

Perry also tweeted a cryptic message describing time as the “ultimate truth teller” – a message the ‘Swish Swish’ singer pointedly retweeted after Calvin Harris accused Swift of trying to “bury” him “like Katy” after their break-up in 2016.

Well it certainly looks like its the end of an era as far this particular feud goes – now all we’re waiting on is the inevitable awards show make-up performance, right?
