Jessica Lange is returning to American Horror Story

The eighth season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology show, titled Apocalypse, will be the highly anticipated Murder House and Coven crossover season.

The series will see several actors reprising old roles, including Jessica Lange who will be returning to the show after leaving at the end of Freak Show

Sarah Paulson announced the news at the TCA press tour yesterday (August 3), revealing that Lange will be appearing in the season’s sixth episode as her Murder House character Constance Langdon.

In addition to playing Murder House character Billie Dean Howard and Coven’s Cordelia Goode, Paulson will also direct the episode Lange is appearing in.

Constance Langdon was featured throughout American Horror Story’s first season and was last seen caring for Michael Langdon, the antichrist and child of Tate Langdon (Evan Peters) and Vivien Harmon (Connie Britton). The now grown-up character will also appear in the upcoming season played by Cody Fern

According to reports, the season will focus on Cordelia and her coven attempting to stop the antichrist from unleashing world-ending evil onto humanity.

Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Adina Porter are all returning to the show. Meanwhile, Dame Joan Collins and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman have also joined the cast.

After renewing American Horror Story for a special tenth anniversary season at the TCA press tour, FX suggested that it could be the last.

Apocalypse will premiere on September 9 on FX in the US, no UK date has been announced.
