Hudson Williams has indicated that sex will play a prominent role in the second season of Heated Rivalry.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Academy Awards yesterday (15 March), the actor described the experience as “surreal and gratifying” in an interview with Variety.

Williams gained wider recognition earlier this year for his role as professional hockey player Shane Hollander in the Crave drama, which is based on the novel by Rachel Reid. The story follows the long-running relationship between Hollander and rival player Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) while they compete in the same professional ice hockey league.

What’s the latest on Heated Rivalry season 2?

Work on the second season is underway. Series creator Jacob Tierney said earlier this month that writing for the new instalment is in progress.

Speaking to Variety at the GLAAD Media Awards, Tierney said: “We’re still on track,” adding that he is currently “in a room all day writing.”

What’s Hudson Williams’s next project?

Alongside returning for the second season of Heated Rivalry, Williams is also set to appear in another Crave TV project, Yaga.

The half-hour drama is adapted from a stage play by Canadian playwright Kat Sandler. The production will feature an ensemble cast including Carrie-Anne Moss, known for her role in The Matrix, Noah Reid of Schitt’s Creek, and Clark Backo, who has appeared in Letterkenny.

Filming for the second season of Heated Rivalry is expected to begin later this year.

Will there be a Heated Rivalry special episode?

Crave executives previously revealed that an extra special episode might be released to bridge the gap while fans await season two.

“We’re going to see what’s feasible,” Justin Stockman, vice-president of content development and programming at Bell Media, told the Toronto Star.

“If Jacob Tierney can find a way to make the source material work in a way that gets us something sooner or something special, I’m sure he will,” Stockman continued.

“I would love to have this back for the holidays next year, but that likely is not going to happen. We can’t rush the process. We won’t be able to repeat the magic if we push him.”
